Solid vs. engineered hardwood
Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of wood and can be sanded and refinished many times over its life. It's a great fit for main living areas, bedrooms and upstairs spaces on a wood subfloor.
Engineered hardwood has a real wood wear layer bonded over a stable core. It handles Georgia's humidity swings better and can be installed over concrete slabs and in basements, where solid wood isn't recommended. During your estimate we'll walk through which option makes sense for each room.
How we install
Good floors start below the surface. Before a single board goes down we check the subfloor for flatness and moisture, fix squeaks, and let the flooring acclimate inside your home. We then install with the right method for your product — nail-down, glue-down or floating — and pay close attention to layout so rows look intentional from the front door.
- Moisture and flatness testing on every job
- Careful transitions at stairs, doorways and fireplaces
- New baseboards or quarter round on request
- Daily cleanup and floor protection in walkways
Species, widths and finishes
White oak, red oak, hickory, maple and walnut are popular choices in Cobb County homes, in widths from classic 2¼" strip to wide 7"+ planks. Prefinished floors install faster; site-finished floors let us dial in a custom stain on your floor. We bring samples to your home so you can see them in your own light — that's the only way to be sure.
Pattern work like herringbone and chevron takes more time and skill, and it's work we genuinely enjoy. If you've seen a look online, show us and we'll tell you honestly what it takes.
What to expect
You'll get a clear written estimate with materials, labor, prep and any trim work spelled out — no vague line items. We'll agree on a start date, protect your home while we work, and finish with a walkthrough so you know exactly how to care for your new floors.
